thanks! luckily I’m in renewables so it’s a bit more bearable

Honestly parsing through ISO/RTO market data for power generation was the way I learned , and the EPA has a solid power generation facility inventory that will let you track heat rates and output down to the hour (might take some time to stitch the data together)

This is real high level but still give a solid overview https://www.ferc.gov/sites/default/files/2020-06/energy-primer-2020_Final.pdf

Thanks - super helpful.

I’ve found an interesting course my Felix Musgens on YouTube which speaks to some of the arbitrage techniques and how settlement and trades flow when compared to DA awards and settled contract. But, coming to accept there’s not an easy way to understand the financial application of power trading.

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

Under contract for nearly 1.1M. Wife and I are at HHI $315k. Will go up in the future, $400k in 3 years and $500k possible in 5-7 years. We have $300k in non-retirement funds, $260k of which will go towards acquiring the house. We have 2 kids and will probably reduce (not maxing) retirement accounts next 18 months to do this. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback? We’ll have to live on a budget and watch but I feel we’ll get used to it and income will grow.

What do you think is a reasonable total fee for a prenuptial agreement where both parties have significant assets and there is some negotiation? What about for a dissolution with a complex asset situation and children? I had a prenup a few weeks ago that came out to $7,000 and another about $5500, and I didn’t overbill, but I am willing to write some off if that seems excessive or I am just slow. There were several negotiations on the higher priced one. (Continued…)

Having worked with energy now for a decade, I find myself enjoying the craziness of it all: You're always two decisions (in Moscow or Riyadh) away from prices halving or doubling. War or no war is quite often a sensitivity, and adoption of EVs/renewables/biofuels will be between X and 10X. Find it hard to imagine doing strategy work in the less volatile/crazy domains - what could be more exciting than this 😋
