Who else is having an unnecessarily busy week at work?

I work in pharma and we got an approval yesterday. WTF FDA.

You’re not alone! This week feels like a marathon—tasks piling up, deadlines looming. Just trying to stay focused, take breaks, and remind myself it’s almost the weekend! How are you holding up?

All at once today we got very busy. Yesterday was nothing compared though. Kind of funny how that happens, lulled into a sense of everything is fine and ok to everything on fire in a matter of no time! Hoping everyone gets through the day and has a nice break coming up soon!

That would be me. I took on two new executives, the EVP Chief Operating Office and the EVP Chief Physician Executive/Chief Clinical Officer. I also have the President/Chief Operating Officer Ambulatory Division. I think it’s time for a compensation review 🤣🤣🤣.

Short weeks are always deceptive. They wind up being the usual amount of work somehow crammed into fewer days. And that's been the case this week. I think on Wednesday it will more or less slow down in the early afternoon as everyone will just be exhausted. But the first two days were a trip.

Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.

Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee. I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.
