GS has a partner level above MD. Regular MDs are not making that much. There are outliers in the 8 figure range but the average BB or EB MD is making around the same as an average MBB partner. Biglaw is higher, 8 figures is not uncommon in some firms although others like Cravath stay around mid 7 figures.
Overall it’s a pretty close range between the three breeds. Not like PE

Ok everyone let’s clarify: BB = Bulge Bracket
Let’s say it all together guys

BB MDs and it’s not even close. MBB and Big law are similar to each other
Big Banks have huge commissions, and big law second since they are part of huge deals too.
I think there is a significant gap to consulting partners from the two top two

BB MD?? Is that supposed to mean big 4 MDs?
BB = Big Bank
MBB = Mega Big Bank
Probably BB MDs on average but their pay is heavily dependent on their performance / team performance. But MDs can get 7-8 figure checks if they manage to close a multi-billion dollar deal without splitting the pot too many ways (ie not a ton of other banks on the transaction).
I feel like MBB Partner pay is more stable. Cant speak much on big law but Ive heard they can make mid-7 figures at the white shoe firms. Though my understanding is that Big Law is much more difficult to make it to Partner level
That is pretty much generational wealth. But it is of course not as easy of a task to pull off nowadays. Much more common at a BB and EB but not the norm since deal fees get split among a lot more sponsors now
What’s BB MD

Yo Mama's a big bank
It depends

MBB is in last place. Big law can be huge $$$$. Like well beyond MBB partner’s dreams. Same for BB. I’m talking massive offices with private bathrooms, huge discretionary accounts, access to private transport without question, etc.
Just like what they show in Suits 🤣
Doesn’t answer your question but I found this reply helpful.
BB MD is by far the lowest for anything outside of cap markets/investment mgmt (IB/S&T). However within those two branches, those MD's can make much, much, more.
I think at Morgan Stanley alone, there have been traders that have concisely made more money than the CEO year after year.
