Who on here accepted a counter-offer to stay, and how long did it take until you quit?

Statistics say 80% of people who accept a counter-offer leave within 6 months anyway. If you took the money to stay, did the underlying issues actually get fixed, or did they just buy a few months of your time?

I was offered a counter offer but didn’t take it for similar reasons from the comments. I was ready to leave and paying me more wasn’t going to fix that.

Respect that. Once the decision is made. No turning back.

Took a counter once. They matched the offer, promised a restructured role, and within 90 days nothing had changed except the paycheck. The trust was gone on both sides — they knew I'd been shopping, I knew they only moved when forced. Eight months later I was gone anyway, just with a slightly better exit salary. The money was real, the fix wasn't. Did the people who countered you actually address why you were looking in the first place?

Nope things still remainder the same. It’s sad that nothing changed even after the counter offer.

Currently a Wealth Advisor for Citi but I honestly hate it here with a passion it’s the worst company I’ve ever worked for in my life and I’ve been in Wealth Management in the banking channel for over a decade. Series 7, Series 63, Life, CFP, ChFC, and soon to have my MBA with a focus in Mergers & Acquisitions. I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.
