Because they thought they’d be avoiding a conflict by saying that.
The conduct of HR departments in general are at best unethical and at worst borderline illegal. It’s time to tip the scale back.
I’m so sorry. I’d be crushed if I saw that.
It’s mandatory in my office to take ethic classes, yet they break those rules and standards daily. In addition, we can be reprimanded if we do not follow those standards. It is not same if they do, of course not, it’s good business practices.
Some companies throw lectures on "non violent communication" but you hear about a director throwing a shoe at managers for questioning perfectly reasonable subjects
Easier to be a jackass than tell you the truth
If they weren't bullies and liars they'd be working in other positions
HR is NOT our friend.
Call the HR person and tell them you want your job back. That should scare the heck out of them. Unless they are completely oblivious.
An employee can be laid off, fired, or they can quit. Even if you call it being fired, the reason they gave was lack of work. Unemployment will automatically reclassify it as a lay off.
I didn't say EEOC, I said NLB. Or go to the state labor board. I was just trying to help OP with their rights as an employee (provided they are telling the entire truth).
Why is this being posted as "Cringe"? I think this lady has been treated very poorly - any "cringe" element in this story belongs to the HR Dept. that made such a mess of her hiring process.
Admin. Assistant - When they let you go after 2 weeks of work, did they give you an exit interview? Did they explain their reasons for ending the position? Did you sign a contract when you were hired? You mention that your father had serious health problems which affected your personal circumstances - did you miss any work days? You don't have to answer these questions on this forum, but try to answer them honestly for yourself. Sometimes we don't realize that something we said or did, offended someone else or made them question their first impression of us. It seems like you came into the position with a good background of experience. Depending upon the reasons HR gives you for terminating the position, you might have grounds for filing a formal complaint. I'm not sure what the organization is called where you live and work, but in my area it is the Labour Standards Board. They are there to listen to complaints from employees who feel they have been treated unfairly, or even illegally, by an employer. It's worth you taking the time to talk to someone there.
I think everyone here was feeling badly for you. Nobody was "hard" on you. People gave you suggestions of things you could possibly do to report that HR department.
It wasn’t you. It was your salary. I’m seeing this more and more every few weeks. Companies are laying people off then immediately hiring for the same position at $15K to $30K less.
Rising Star
They reposted the job because they want someone else to fill it. They lied to you rather than tell you explicitly you were the problem.
HR Detector 1 reported me. I’m so scared!!!
Good one 😂👍
If you eliminate a job you don't have to give a performance reason for firing the person doing that job.
