It was literally the only thing I could stand. As a student and a teacher. So happy that I teach high school, most of the students in my class actually want to be there.
Even though I love history more, I knew there would be far less competition for math jobs.
I’ve wanted to be a math teacher since I was in 6th grade. 14 years as a teacher and I still love teaching my kiddos math!
Math jobs are easy to find. And I get paid more $$ than other subjects
I liked how there was always a right answer, compared to shades of gray in other subjects. I was always "good at math", and I feel like I can explain things well to people if they have a question. The problem is that nobody really gives two figs at my school about math.
I didn't know what I wanted to do. I considered teaching to coach. I Did a bit of research and found out fast how big the need was in math.
I made thousands of dollars tutoring during college, and figured:
High need
High demand
Low supply
Good at it
Gave up the coaching idea altogether and now teach AP at a college prep.
Still good at it
