Sounds silly but don’t take it on your company computer. GMAT software will trigger the firewall and operate very slowly…
Speaking from experience? Lol
No mask required at home is a plus. Make sure WiFi is good and no one else is really using it or it could slow down as well and you’re on video the whole time so they could pause your test briefly if your video is interrupted. Other than that, I liked taking it at home
Strongly recommend NOT taking it online. I took it twice online, and the software was horribly slow both times to the point of not working (w/ a new ThinkPad and 500+ mbps internet). During my 2nd attempt the proctor had me force restart my laptop multiple times and ultimately cancelled/refunded my attempt. Took it in-person the day after that, and the experience was great. Quiet room, earmuffs, fast computer, etc.
I did both and experienced some issues with the online virtual version. The test glitched out and I had to restart my laptop and reconnect to the software. The test was paused, but I had about an hour delay. Was nervous that my score would get cancelled, but it ended up going through. Overall, I received my target score, but it was quite a process.
I scored 100 points higher on the online after 2 attempts in person lol
I also wouldn’t do virtual. I didn’t have any problems during the test, but got my score cancelled a month later for a “testing issue”, so I had to re-take in person anyway. There are just too many potential issues to worry about

I took at home and it was pretty easy for me! No issues, and was nice to take it in a comfortable place with the same time/settings as I took my practice tests
I took the Online one twice. The first time I had a freak error and the lockdown browser shut down. I was freaked out but proctor fixed it quickly with no impact on test itself. 2nd time was very smooth. Make sure you have really good wifi speed - that was the problem on my 1st test and don’t need that kind of emotion during the test. Other than that one issue, I was a big fan of Online. Knew exactly what to expect of my environment on test day.
Took it online - no issues
Took it online, faced no issues
Took it online, had a weird glitch the first time (My online whiteboard did not work like it did during practice tests and it partially covered my answer choices / had to manually minimize it again and again)
Second time went very smoothly after I decided to not use the online whiteboard for note taking
I’ve heard people disqualified for mumbling while taking test, plus the whiteboard sucks. I’d strongly suggest going in.

Def in person for me. I don't think I would have performed as well at home. And no stress about tech issues/support
Online worked perfectly for me but I realized how easy it was to cheat. Turned me off thinking about how others could've cheated on the exam.
I wonder if the curves are different for this reason.
I really liked taking it online. I did lose a couple minutes in the IR section because it shut down, I was using an older MacBook Air, but overall everything went fine and the proctor person got me online again really quickly. I got a 760 and then they adjusted that up to a 770 after reviewing the footage and seeing how much time I had lost, I must have been on the cusp.
