Just wanted to say hello to my Texas peeps!!
I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?
I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.
Any Advice?

If you have an interview your not doomed. They know where you went to school and where you work now. If that mattered, they wouldn’t waste their time interviewing you :)
This is what I was thinking, too.
It will depend if the big law firms are school snobs, but it’s not an automatic death sentence! Focus on what you’ve done since you’ve been working and highlight your skills and tenacity. If you are in a specialty practice then emphasize any inside knowledge or experience you may have in that, especially if the new firms have those practice groups. I went to arguably one of the lowest ranked schools and ended up at a very well known global firm after working in house for 3.5 years, so it can be done! Good luck!
You’ll do great!
No, definitely not if you got the interview! Top 5% at almost any law school is impressive, and it definitely is impressive at a top 75 law school. Just interview well and you should be okay. You got this!
Thanks this was so nice!
No I wouldn’t be worried. I wasn’t even top 5% at my top ~75 law school and now I work at a v10 firm. If you got the interview then they’ve already decided to look past that. And given your experience in the niche area they’re looking for, I think you’re totally fine on that front. I would just be as specific as possible about what you’ve done and how it could benefit the firm, emphasizing your excitement to work there and interest in working at a bigger firm to get more reps/hours developing that experience (they might be worried you won’t be able to adjust to the demands of big law so would just make sure to highlight that you want a faster paced environment or something)
Excellent advice - thank you!
Just got an offer from my top choice biglaw firm, very desirable group, coming from a small boutique firm. No special niche. It happens all the time. Once you get the interview, it’s about fit. Deep breaths. Multiple firm interviews is a good sign. Most people who persist can pull it off after a few months. Mine took a month start to finish.
Thanks!!

Not at all. Your creds are impressive.
Sally forth with confidence.
Don’t give this another thought. You got the interview. Your credentials are better than mine and I’m at a V20 now. There is always a way of you are a good lawyer. Sell that!! Good luck!
Awesome - thank you!
Agree with most of the others’ comments here. The firms have seen your resume and decided to interview you. They’re not doing you a favor—they think your an interesting prospect. Go in there with confidence and make sure you’re checking them out as much as they’re doing the same to you.
For context, I went to a similar caliber school to you and graduated around the same rank in my class. I’m pretty confident I got my job because the hiring folks knew it takes tenacity and vigor to scrap your way to the top of a law school class, and those are desirable attributes in a lawyer.
Congrats on the interviews! Good luck!
Thank you!!
Same here and I went to 3 Am Law 50 firms.
