Wife is getting promoted to Manager at another consulting firm. Want to get her something for this professional milestone. Any good ideas? Budget under $500

Im a bit old school here, but I’m a huge fan of milestone gifts that people would not normally buy for themselves. Something like a Mont Blanc engraved is always nice. It will get used a lot, can be integrated in everyday work life and is a great reminder of hard work paying off.

Professional Resume Services, to leave the worst position in the ladder lol

I loved being a Manager, Senior Manager is the worst.

As a Manager you can delegate to Seniors & Staffs, you don’t have any sales goals and no PPMDs breathing down your throat

Spa day, a new business card holder or wallet, a nice piece of jewelry that's her style, an update to something at gone she's been wanting (new art, a standing desk, or fancy chair).

I took my wife to Nordstroms when she got promoted and gave the personal stylist a budget and let her have fun 🤩. You could do the same since most of them enjoy shopping

As a woman myself, I'd love something I can have with me every day but not a pen as others suggested (many of us are picky about point!) I'd love a nice stackable ring set that I can wear daily and remind me of home when I'm traveling, or simple but elegant earrings.

$499 gift card. J/k my wife prefers ‘experiences’ over ‘items’ so if it were me it would be a spa day or a dinner at a fancy restaurant or something like that

like

This is a big milestone. Get her something nice. Women usually enjoy big bags - Maybe get her one of those. Will def be 4-6x your budget but well worth it. And besides, you work at EYP, you can afford it 😊

My go to ~$500 gift for a new “Boss” is a bottle of WhistlePig The Boss Hog

Or a great bottle of wine to share!

I bought myself a nice pair of boots and an expensive spa package. So some thing I could use right away to de-stress and something I could continue to wear and remember the promotion every time I wear them!

Get both of you home on time for that one day :P

Few good suggestions here, just make sure that whatever you buy or do is after some thought and proper attention to her

Up the budget. Vacation!

All I got when I got promoted was my wife asking if that meant we could start renovations because I’d ‘make more money.’ You’re a good SO, OP.

funny

Depends on what she likes. If she likes experiences get that, if she always wanted to try a hobby or sport maybe a package of private lessons in it and some equipment. If you're more after an item, I'd say go for high quality local or recognisable brand but that's not overpriced. Such as an Italian leather bag or a nice watch (Seiko for example is good for that). A silk scarf can be combined with anything really or some nice jewelry. For example I know many stones apart from diamonds are decently priced, and even lab diamonds are not too expensive if they're small, so could be a nice pair of earrings for example if it's a sapphire or similar. Or you could book you guys for a lovely and romantic spa weekend, so she can chill before starting a new role!

like

Congrats to your wife! A nice leather work bag or accessory might be a nice gift to go along with her new role. Bosca has some nice stuff (laptop bags, wallets, folios, etc.).

nice set of yurman earrings should be around there, maybe even a bit less

New babies 🥳

MBA with Total YOE - 7+, relevant YOE- 5.3 , Skills - CYBERSECURITY,GRC, Audit.

I have got two offers
1. Genpact - 27 CTC (24 fixed + 10% variable plus gratuity) Manager level
2. Airbus - 23 CTC + 5 L JB
I really wanted to work with Airbus but they are not budging from the offer of 23 even after I told them I have a better offer from Genpact with better position. HR said they will come back..

You think Airbus will come back with better offer?

Rare road trip use (1x or 2x / yr; <300 miles one way)
Have garage (to charge at home)

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
