Working for a federal judge is an infinitely harder and more anxiety-inducing than at a big law firm. That’s all 🤣

Depends on the judge. Maybe more challenging work, but definitely not more anxiety producing in my experience. My judge is chill.

My judge is a monster and a perfectionist 🤣

Mine is super chill and kind (although a brilliant legal mind). But I've certainly heard stories so I don't doubt your experience. Not all judges are equal in temperament and approach. Just like in the private sector with bosses or supervising attorneys.

I'm sorry it's been difficult. Cheers and best wishes for sticking it out!

A friend from law school and I are both clerking, different judges but within the same circuit. Polar opposite experiences. Glad to say I love my judge/job meanwhile he is counting down the days until his term ends

Mmmk

Obviously depends on the judge, but in my experience absolutely agree

What do you think are the chances this thing actually goes through? As of today they're still blocking it. It's paused which is fine, but if they don't actually forgive them after February I'll be pissed.

I am looking for wine decanter tags that are writable. I’d like to find a vintage looking silver option, but they all require engraving. I’m looking for something writable that I can change the label on when I host wine parties and I have a couple decanters on the table. Anyone have something similar and can share a link with me? I’m struggling to find anything that will work, other than writing on clear tape with a sharpie marker 😐

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?

Has anyone ever said no to a federal clerkship and if so, why?

I went to a T14 law school, got great grades and glowing recommendations, and wrote (what I thought was) a great writing sample. But I got rejected from all 70 federal clerkships I applied to. The only thing I can think of is: I took a non traditional route after law school and did a 2 year public interest fellowship in a niche field of administrative law. The rejection gave me a lot of self hatred. I still really want to clerk. Any advice? What is wrong with me? I feel like a failure.

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.
