I get it. I was at B4, and flipped to a smaller firm. They told me they needed to “clean house” but I didn’t realize how bad it was.
Fortunately, I’m in a position to tell leadership who needs to be let go & they’ve been making it happen, but it is beyond painful. I’m shocked at the horrible quality of some people that call themselves a consultant.
yes, a problem. Interviewing people are not SMEs and here we are. Same in my place. But also, what floors me the most is no desire to learn and be better at what you do.
Can you give some examples? I thought no company would pay for people like that
It’s people already in seat. I haven’t hired any of them.
I’ve hired 2 people and they are good on my team, but aren’t on this project.
Are you still on the consulting side or corporate/client side now?
I’m on the client side.

In FAANG, people were generally pretty good. This is just a struggle all around. No wonder consultants make boatloads. Can run circles around people.
The process we have in place is flawed. I wanted to bring on a L8 to a project that had great SQL skills but no cert. We went with the cert person, untested, and he ended up not being so great. I’m coming from Deloitte. Getting the right people for a project was never an issue in my 5yrs with them. Here is much more political. I’ve seen fellow fraternity brothers hire friends and then when the boat sinks they bail. Accenture is a networking and bro first organization, not skills first. It shows
Bros before the pros 🫡
I am seen best performer in consulting assignment the past 15 years in France and been rapidly promoted. I enrollled myself for post graduate and now I am struggling to get a décent job back in my career level even sponsorship is hard
