Starting a new position in a few weeks and have an opportunity to speak with my future boss before starting. Is there anything I should ask before starting that wouldn’t already have been covered in the interview? For those working in house, how much “from scratch” document drafting are you doing vs. reviewing and revising “outside documents”. For example, if your company wants to enter into a joint venture company with another entity, are you drafting the company agreement “from scratch” or is it based on internal forms? Or are you getting outside counsel to do it?

Had two rounds of interviews for an in house role and really like the company/job. I followed up Friday regarding next steps and was told they are still interviewing and should be wrapping up soon. They like “home grown” talent and I “be worked hard and risen relatively quickly (AGC in 9 years). I work hard and get a lot of complicated deals done (structured products and private funds). The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe.
