Not at all. Two weeks is nothing. Any reasonable employer expects some negotiation on start date, especially if you need to wrap things up at your current job. Even if you're asking for two weeks on top of the standard two week notice period, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker. If they're really the right candidate, there's no logic behind pulling their offer over 10 days of work.

I would hope it wouldn’t be an issue. Two weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things. If the manager refused, I probably would see it as aged flag that they have so much work that you’re going to buried
I agree. It could be a sign of the company not being flexible..More or less their way or the highway. Future negotiations may be difficult.
I’m more concerned about the fact that you feel this could be a red flag
It depends, if it’s at offer/acceptance - no, it’s standard negotiating. If we have already agreed on a start date and they come back some time later with wanting to change it, I’d want a decent reason.
Presumably, you’re hiring this person because they are successful. Most likely they don’t want to leave money behind and they won’t have a vacation for several months once they start. Give them the 2 weeks so they can collect their money and have a breather between jobs.
I think that’s totally fine, I’ve done it before. It’s a bit more risky now since it’s an employer’s market but I think if you’ve secured everything already then it should be ok.
Agree with E1 and VP1. If either side isn’t willing to give their explanation, then yeah, it’s a red flag,
I would say that if they're asking for 2 weeks, that means they want to finish the two weeks at their current employer. That is a sign of a good worker! In that case, I definitely would hold on to that person and let it go... but that's me.
That’s telling me that they are waiting on their top job to get back with them. It’s a chess game.
And what if it is another probable offer? Everyone's right to look after themselves.
Depends on the reason.
