Remember that bonus amount is not guaranteed, but typically a range....but overall seems solid. What does your promotion path at your current firm look like? You may want to consider that - if you’re close to Director, you would be looking at $250K
Appreciate the input D1. These are target numbers for an average year. Was told it could go higher (or lower) depending on a number of factors.
Promotion at current firm is director in 2 years at an all in comp of $250k. In two years I should be around that all-in at this firm as well.
Thoughts?
Was thinking yes yes yes until I saw Midwest. I grew up in the Midwest and was happy to leave. I’ve never looked back. For me the Midwest is kind of a deal breaker
Speaking of the Midwest, how’s Detroit looking?

You're looking for better WLB and can get $225k total comp for an individual contributor role? AND it's increase over what you're already making? I'd be running to that role assuming everything else is good and you're not in an area where the money won't go that far (relatively).
Agreed
200k in the midwest is going to feel like 500k in NYC/SF. The tradeoff is the industry options aren't as sexy. I got a crazy offer for some corn/soybean company (AGM) and didn't take it due to that and Indiana.
200k in the Midwest is definitely not 500k in SF.
The point is not how big of a house you can buy. The point is how much you can plow away into the S&P 500.
SF at 500k will let you save at least 150k into the stock market. Can you say the same about 200k in Indianapolis?
Give it a decade or two of market growth and the SFer will literally be able to live anywhere in the world. True of the Indy-er?
Is this offer from McDonalds? It feels like a McDonald’s offer based on the numbers.
If not, when you say Midwest—do you mean Chicago or is it elsewhere?

McD 2!!! What level you at?
How many inches is it though
I took something similar in Boston (slightly higher across the board but prob a wash when considering geography) and have been happy because I have a good team.
I’d say do more diligence on the people you interact with daily and see if you’d get along with them before making a decision.

If you won’t take it, may I please have it?

I am in the midwest in industry now and that is defs a good comp package for your YOE and for Midwest F500.
Remember, make sure the role is something you want to do, you like the team and there is runway for growth. The nice pay pack and great WLB loses its luster if the above criteria are not met.
Take me with you?
225k in the Midwest? Bro, you're gonna feel like you're making half a mil out there with how cheap everything is. Take it and go!
I'll take it if you don't want it
Really depends on where in the MW...there are quite a few areas that I wouldn't live in for pretty much any amount of money
I'm in a tech company in SF after leaving Bain 1 year post mba. Around $275k all in so not much better if you factor in COL but I do think that the trajectory here is probably better and exit opps etc.
Bonus isn’t guaranteed in consulting either. This is a good offer for your tenure and you’ll probably regret it if you don’t take it. You can live like a king and still save a ton of money on that pay in the Midwest
First off that is a great offer. However, ask yourself what you want. Do you like living in SF? Because unless your in Chicago, MW is pretty low key and nothing like SF.
It’s not about comp. it’s about finding a company primed for success or growth

Or...a job that makes you happy, now and in the longer term, whatever that means.
Better wage and a better wlb certainly. Life is not only work
Very similar to what I just received.
Chicago F500, director, 185 base, 55 bonus, 20 RSU. Very happy with that. Slight comp increase over current role but huge WLB gains.
D3 - not Ingredion.
Seems like an overall good deal
