Which roles at airlines (delta, southwest, etc) have the best compensation trajectory?

Anyone flown Southwest recently? Taking my first trip (BWI -> HOU) since the pandemic began and curious what things are like!

I’m going to start traveling again post pandemic and debating on which airline to go all in on (or should I divide and conquer?). I’m assuming 1 of the big 3 (AA, Delta, United) is the answer?

What I have: AA Platinum thanks to BCG perk but can get United or Delta to match. Also have Southwest companion pass but that’s expiring this year.

Currently live in Chicago if that matters.

What is the best hotel card to get? Currently have reward numbers will all the major players, but no cc's for any of them. Me and my fiance have the companion pass with southwest and want to sign up for a hotel card with great bonuses and rewards to really drop the cost of vacations.

How do I pick the best airline and hotel chain for reward status? I'm about to start traveling a lot more next year, and I don't have any real strong loyalties. I live in the north-east in a mid-sized city, and will be traveling mostly in the north-east. My airport is primarily served by American, Delta and Southwest, but isn't a hub for any airline.

Thinking about cashing out my City TY points for cash and closing Citi Premier if they don't give me a retention bonus. Am I missing any obvious plays to get significantly more than 1c per point?

There are occasionally transfer bonuses but i mostly fly Delta and Southwest and the only tempting one was Virgin and the ability to book Delta first class for a decent rate but that was a few years ago, not sure that is still an option. No international travel planned in immediate future.

Is this Chase Sapphire Preferred Card the best option right now? I’d like to use the points for AA and Southwest flights primarily. (Current offer is 100,000 bonus points after $4000 spend in 3 months; $95 annual fee)

In the southwest area, for example AZ, New Mexico, Utah, what is a decent salary for a software developer with 1 years experience. I would love to know what range I should be asking for. I was making 65k with no bonuses or anything else at my first developer job

Does southwest ever board people out of the check in order? I arrived just in time for my group's boarding and I asked this woman for her boarding number and she told me boarding is out of order. The whole selling point of SW is that you have more favorable seating options depending on how quickly you check in and board. So I ignored her and she and her husband got offended.

Have a somewhat confusing question hoping to get some insight. I had to cancel a Southwest flight last year due to covid. They issued a credit but informed me I had to book a flight that was before 9/22/21 or the credit would be lost. Here’s my question: if I book the flight so it is before the 22nd and use the credit to pay for it, if I decide to change flight dates to after 9/22 would that transfer over? Or would I have to forfeit the credit and pay for the flight. Hope this makes sense!

Does anyone have experience moving from public to IB outside of NYC and want to share how they made the switch? Specifically talking southwest US areas.

If given the option to transfer to TAS internally from Audit (as S2 with CPA) would you all take it or recommend going external with RSM? Southwest: I have been flying some short Midwest points and have had a Southwest Credit card since 2014. I was told by Chase that I could close my current card and then reopen a higher tier card, And I would be approved and get a sign on bonus. Today I was denied because I previously had a Southwest card. Now I have no cards!! Anyone have this happen?!

Why is that when I book my travel for my family and I under the same reservation, sometimes they get precheck and sometimes they don’t?

I have precheck and they don’t. Just checked into our Southwest flight and I was the only one whose boarding pass has precheck tho I’m positive in the past on other airlines I’ve seen it.

Southwest Airlines Travel gurus: I am on flight A, but want to switch to earlier flight B via standby to avoid the much higher fare. Can I purchase a refundable fare for flight B under another name then cancel last second to guarantee an empty seat? I have status so I can do standby at no cost if there are open seats

Any idea on how to redeem remaining travel funds for Southwest without booking flights. I have around 1000 dollars expiring by 7th September and I do not have any plans of flying anywhere till the end of October.
