A well trodden road is audit to FDD to IB. It’s becoming increasingly common. Still a very hard exit but much more manageable than even a year ago cause banks are hurting for people
It depends on what you’re aiming for BB IB I would say skip fdd and aim for a top mba program, because even with FDD BB IB odds aren’t that good. If you don’t care about prestige and aiming MM or lower, FDD or vals is a good transition point. Audit directly to IB is not impossible but still very difficult even with this job market. Not a lot of transferable skills, so you would have to network extensively and get pretty lucky.
Don’t get wrong I wouldnt say the odds are in auditors favor, but once you check certain boxes in terms of gmat and gpa, it’s a crapshoot for everyone. There’s plenty of people that get 800 gmat scores and 4.0 gpa that get rejected every single year. Usually what truly makes you unique isn’t your scores but the narrative of how you got to your current job and how you plan to get to your post mba goals
