Any suggestions? I have the first shift so to speak of tending to baby so I don't go to sleep or leave the house so my wife can get to sleep but I feel like I can't get anything accomplished, especially work or exercise. Was doing pretty well until #3 came along this summer.
OP: I am right there with you. My wife and I share kids responsibilities when we are both at home. I also used to be very productive after the kids went to sleep but I saw that productivity going the drain over the years. Tonight is a great example. I have a good amount of work to get through and I am dreading the time after my kids went to bed. I really enjoy the work and the people I supervise/work with-for but I am feeling a little drained. I am curious to see what people do to stay motivated. Thanks for putting the question out there.
I feel ya! I was super productive during busy season, but definitely don’t have the drive as time goes on. Maybe try switching to a morning routine to get stuff done?
Amen, I wish I had the answer. My wife and I both travel for work, our main goal is one is home each night. I find now, with two, I plan to be productive on the road b/c I know I can only do small admin tasks when home alone w the kids.
I wake up before anyone else (4am) and work, run errands, clean house etc. for exercise I take walks with the kids, park really far from the entrance of stores, take stairs instead of the elevators. It sounds difficult but I have found that after a while you do become accustomed to getting up to early so even on off days I find myself waking up early
I’m trying to convince my wife to hire a babysitter for 2-3 hours a day.
Kids and PA is tough to juggle, but do-able. In the end the crazy hours and lack of sleep will be well worth it. You never get a minute back with ur kids. Try to stay focused to get thru the work. I am morning person so I found working in the early morning before the kids got up really worked for me - it’s amazing how efficient one can be with no distractions.
Have you tried early morning maybe start working at 430 or 5 before they wake up
I know that sounds really early but I find that I can knock out a few hours before anyone is up
If I wait until I get home I’m too tired and that glass of wine starts calling my name
