Why is it so hard to find a remote HR position? I have my SHRM-SCP, my MBA and over 10 years of experience being an HR Manager.
My EA every Monday: how was your weekend? *in my head: I got way too drunk, facetimed my ex, and ate Taco Bell at 3 am* Me: It was relaxing, thanks for asking Karen
GRAD SCHOOL ADVICE: Hi there, I am a HR professional and love my career. There are definitely some HARD days that make me question why I'm still in HR but I am passionate about people and helping them. That said, I have been thinking about going back to school for quite some time. I was interested in pursuing a MBA but now wanting to specialize in psychology. I think this is a better route for me. I want to understand people. Any HR/psychology grad students or alums? Online school suggestions?
Would you ever let your firm/company know that you are looking to leave before you give your two weeks notice?
Here’s my conundrum, I have a great relationship with my boss, company, and upper management. I’m planning to switch jobs so I can relocate closer to family. I have some interviews coming up, and already have an offer in hand, so leaving is a foregone conclusion. My boss is going to be blindsided when I tell them I’m leaving - I can’t overstate how great our relationship is. Thoughts?
Hey, has anyone heard of w UK company called Adsmith? And in terms of a sales job in paid marketing - what’s it like? I have been interviewing with them.
What are your honest thoughts on cover letters - are they outdated, or even relevant at this point? Do you look at them?
Does anyone know how a corporate junior associate might (practically) try to get a job in the incoming Biden administration? Is a junior policy position the best fit for a corporate associate in the White House?
If you ever feel your life is pointless tonight I’m using my 300k law degree to redact 5 year olds names from their kindergarten school work.
I’ve been in TA for 10 years and have been wanting to be an HRBP for 2 years now. My prior company had no interest in helping me develop and started with a new company 4 months ago. I was transparent from the start that I wanted to leave TA and was told I could do that within my first year. I’m receiving signs that I’ll, once again, be pigeonholed in TA. I’ve done talent management, DEI, engagement, but my lack of direct BP experience and TA titles keep me pigeonholed. What can I do?

I just started practicing and I get anxious before some hearings, which can sometimes throw off my train of thought. Looking for tips on how to control anxiety in the courtroom.

Happy Tuesday! I’m looking to make more connections in HR and was wondering if anyone would like to connect on LinkedIn? I would love to speak to some HR managers or HRBPs that wouldn’t mind sharing your journey/career path with me. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and name is Helen Alston on LinkedIn 😊
Professional liability insurance defense, how hard is it to hit 2200 hours when the work Is there
I’ve been told to stay up past midnight while my senior reviews a document I drafted, after sleeping at 3am last night for the same reason. I’m literally here doing nothing but also not “allowed” to sleep. Is this normal?!? How do people do this long term?
Currently, I manage one practice group in my office, but practice in several areas. I’m having a meeting Monday with firm leadership about transitioning to manage the entire office. It’s the firm’s only office in the state. I’ll have 1 LA, 3 Paras, 4 associates, 1 partner to manage. We continue to grow and will hire more. It’s another step on my path to equity partnership. Any recommendations on what to ask during the meeting? Salary? Perks? Red flags? Mid-Atlantic regional firm, 120 attorneys.
Partner constantly produces work with grammatical errors, typos, run on sentences, etc. She’s hyper-aggressive about minor changes to my work. Suggestions in handling this?
HELP! I work at a remote company and we are hiring folks across the mainland. I need to find an online notary who can verify IDs for Form I-9. In the past, I had new hires find a local notary but we want to centralize this as there has been a lot of back and forth, confusion, etc. Do you have any suggestions for a company I can go with? Suggestions including links are greatly appreciated!
Need advice on side hustles and PT gigs. I work FT, my wife runs her own business PT while caring for our kids, and we are STILL living paycheck to paycheck. Combined we make over $80k/yr, but it's still tight. My wife is saying she can go back to work FT and shut down her biz, but a) I know this would make her unhappy, b) we want to prioritize our time with our kids before they start going to school, and c) we already pay for PT daycare and it's EXPENSIVE. FT is outrageous. Thoughts?
I’ve been asked to draft an issues list for a SPA and I’ve never done one before. Any helpful suggestions on how I should approach this assignment would be much appreciated! Anything I should pay particular attention to!?

I am 56 years old. My financial advisor has suggested that I create a charitable remainder trust as a tax planning strategy to address $1M in unrealized gains and also allow for tax deductions. I am concerned that I will out live the trust and there will be an excessive contribution to the charity rather than my heirs. While I want to be charitable, having too much go to the charity is a conern. Any suggestions ?
