You’ll generally always have to report to someone whether it be a supervisor or a client if you’re working, even if you own your own business. If she wants to review them, it’s creating more work for her but at the end of the day she’s your supervisor so just do it. Micromanagers tend to burn themselves out from having too much to review so overload her with review. She’ll get overwhelmed and back off eventually or you’ll find a new supervisor better aligned with your work style.
She doesn't have anything better to do! Send them so she can "add value." Then laugh and go about your day. If you present as unbothered, micromanage isn't as fun.
😮💨😮💨😮💨they stay playing in grown folks' faces.
I like to cut them off at the knees early.
If you guys are MS platformed, respond with advising her that a SharePoint with all docs has been created for ease of information sharing.
If your primary OS is Google, drop that Google Folder link.
If she needs to see a document, it will be housed there in a parent folder named after the relevant project.
Just make sure that your settings allow for editing & commenting and not duplicating/uploading without approval. SharePoint is so annoying for duplication of documents.
My petty ass email would read,
Becky,
For your convenience, I have created this shared folder that houses all documentation of my current project responsibilities as per
your request for review access.
Documents are stored in parent folders named by project applicable. All key stakeholders have been advised of access to the folder(s) relevant to the project(s) requiring their visibility/collaboration.
You will also receive an invite to a recurring weekly Project Touchbase to discuss any key points/roadblocks that can not be resolved via the active edit/comment permissions.
Please advise if you need any additional information with regard to my current responsibilities.
Regards,
Not the One nor the Two😒
I love this thank you!!! She is just doing to belittle people
Does she give you review points?
She replaces a sentence saying the same thing but with fluff 😂 never valuable feedback
Unfortunately so on brand for managers! Can barely handle the basics of the workplace but have to monitor and review everything you are doing. Honestly wondering if that isn’t some kind of prerequisite for getting into leadership the more of that I see!
Honestly, it’s nbd. Brush it off and eventually she won’t ask or you’ll get a new job or new project.
If they are trivial emails, then I understand your frustration. Otherwise, I appreciate having another set of eyes on things and hopefully their review adds some value.
If it’s any consolation, or caution, I had an older white male colleague who was fired because he refused to comply with a requirement like this. The managing partners were other white men of similar age and experience except they were partners at this firm and he was not. He felt like they were his peers and didn’t have any value to add to his work. They saw it differently.
