Behind - but so what.
Nobody is keeping score. It's your life.
I was making about $60k at age 29, and now am at just over $300k at age 40. Experience and career progression > $$$ when you’re young and don’t have kids.
Seeing a couple comments here saying “behind.” Total BS - look at the average salary across the US right now. Pretty sure the average and median incomes are around $60k. If you’re breaking into 6-figure territory by age 30 you are doing great, but there’s always someone doing better so don’t compare yourself to everyone else
Totally depends where you live in my opinion, I broke 6 figures when I was 25 but I also lived in a HCOL city. If I made 80k in an MCOL i’d be able to afford the same lifestyle as I did with 100k in HCOL
Try harder not to compare yourself to others: they’re not you, they don’t do your job, and they don’t have your skills or experience.
If you have to benchmark, do it against your own progress and against the goals you set yourself.
I didn’t make 6 figures until I was 32, and that was living in NYC. But it was also 12 years ago and my total compensation has more than tripled since then - I could have made 6 figures sooner, but if I’d chased the money rather than the right role and experience, I don’t think I’d be where I am today.
Behind. There will always be people ahead of you. Stop comparing so much.
