Definitely not worth pursuing. Most jobs will pay you $175-200k after your MBA. Unless you are looking for a change in career.
Sorry not answering your question but by tech consulting do you mean implementation?
MBA isn’t be all and end all to better pay/growth. If you know of an industry/network that could benefit from a particular school, then it’s worth it to obtain an MBA just for the network. Otherwise it’s a huge investment without a guaranteed higher return. You’re better off finding an exit to a large tech once the market recovered.
Absolutely not. You’re already a manager and making MBA pay. Even if you get into a M7, your consulting opportunities will be worse (same comp and level downgrade) than what you already have. Not worth it for two years of tuition and opportunity cost
As someone with an MBA (top 15 school) and that has jumped in and out of consulting, I’d say no need to get one if your plan is to stay in consulting. I don’t think it will help your salary past the M level significantly. It’s more valuable to get you to the M level and from there it’s all about productivity. If you want to pivot to a different field, position yourself for industry, might be worth it. It’s a great experience regardless and the networking and opportunities are not overrated no matter what any non-MBA grad tells you.
I would recommend looking into a part-time or exec MBA program if you have a top-tier one near you. It is really tough to do while in consulting but could get you the lift you’re looking for and show you some new opportunities you hadn’t thought of. You also actually do learn some good stuff 😉
It’ll probably be a 4-6 year set back for you in terms of status. Although you will likely be making a bit more money by that point and doing arguably more interesting work.
In other words - almost certainly not worth it.
Pro
Probably not - you could look at executive MBAs which could have a value prop for you (happy to DM) based on where you’re at. I don’t think full time is worth it for you though unless you’re obsessed with mbb or changing to IB or something.
At what level or YOE would you recommend to get an EMBA? I’m in a similar situation as OP.
Unless you get into a top 10 program and are planning a career change, IMHO, that an emphatic NO.
