McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

I received this feedback as an associate and still to this day get frustrated at myself when I realize I’m taking longer than necessary on a task because I’m being a perfectionist. HOWEVER, I have never been given feedback that I rush things, miss key information, make careless mistakes, or don’t follow instructions. All feedback that i have given staff because those mistakes can really mess up a project and cause me to be in a tough position as a manager. Take the feedback in stride and realize it’s something you may always have to work on, but also realize it’s a strength and don’t be afraid to be proud of your work product.
“I’m planning to have this done by {insert time and date}. Does that work for you?”
In due time. I’m assuming it’s great because you spent the time on it. Over time, producing work of that quality will be second nature
Write down what you are going to do before you do it. Eliminates rework when you figure something out midway through, measure twice cut once, etc.
Is your quality more than expected? Find whats the target. Dont have to overachieve target quality. Perhaps you may finish soon?
definitely not a good idea at BCG
Tell those jack holes to do it instead if they’re so damn great 😉
Aggressive time boxing helps. That way you won't overthink it or over invest in quality
Perfection is subjective. It’s more important to come out with a MVP first and ask for others’ input.
Quality and time have a straight line relationship.
Diminishing returns.

How about you stop being an ass 🙃
Make sure you’re leveraging BCG resources (visual services etc.)
If it’s a software thing, you’re probably best off learning every single little shortcut. What I would also do is apply your scoping skills to your own process. Diagram your business process and find out the holes you have in efficiency. I would also mark down your emotional and physical state as you progress in your day. When I did it, I noticed that I was spending too much time decompressing when I got back from the office, and then getting food after. I realized that I could order food as I was on my way to the office, and have it arrive to meet me there. Saved me an hour of time. Little things like that will make a big difference in setting yourself apart.
