I’m sorry you’re in this situation. Having a target on your back placed by your supervisor is one of the most awful experiences. What’s your plan from here?
I plan on responding to each negative review next week and eventually get outta dodge. Im praying and looking deligintly but its slim pickins' with a saturated market with lowball salaries. Im also working on forming my own business...other than design. Ive got a bit of an entrepenurial flare...cant let a negative supervisor ruin my spirit. Cant change people who are rude and mean. Imma do me. She is the most boring and dryest person I have ever met. Sometimes people just dont jive...move on ya know!?
Coach
I’m glad to read you are currently looking, but try to document as much as possible now in case you need it later for a retaliation settlement.
Document everything, go to HR and start by asking for advice on how they would habdle something like this. Make it about how you want to better the relationship, keep growing in your work, be of continued value, etc. NOT about how horrible your manager has been no matter how true they may be. Let them coach you and them set a meeting with your manager to review the commentary and ask them to help you cone up with a plan to get you where they need you to be in their eyes. Again, appeal to the ego, and if the commentary is BS it will start to be revealed to others. Also, be honest with yourself and then your manager too re: areas of improvement - everyone has them and there’s nothing wrong with admitting them. Once you have an actionable plan that you and your manager have agreed upon, you have a documented way to hold them accountable too. Good luck!
