I honestly never considered how negotiations would reflect on a referral. I assume negotiations are expected so it would be more about HOW you handle the negations vs actually negotiating. As long as you are well-researched and respectful, it shouldn’t be seen negatively.
Negotiations are a part of the process. Unless you go in there with some crazy number. There's no problem
It doesn't look bad on them. In fact, if you don't negotiate, that will cast some doubt on the value you bring.
So negotiate but do it reasonably.
No I wouldn't worry about this at all. Everyone expects negotiations. Now, if you were super rude and entitled about it, maybe that'd reflect poorly on your friend but if you are professional and negotiate in good faith then you shouldn't be concerned about it.
Not weird. You should negotiate.
No it is not weird at all. Everyone negotiates and it would be stupid of them not to. You don't want to leave any money on the table at the end of the day.
If you are professional in your negotiations not at all!! Why should it?! Most companies expect you to negotiate, if there is no room for negotiation they'll let you know.
