By your 40's you need to either be at Partner/Managing Director level (or very close to making it to that level) or be an indispensable Subject Matter Expert in a critical marketable area.
Anything in-between means you fucked up and are at serious risk of being fired and being near permanently unemployed.
Wow, you’re a real optimist.
Same with my dad 😔 I feel so helpless. (Not laid off but job searching forever)
Your description of “middle managers” makes them sound like they don’t add much value. Not sure if you wrote it to mean that. Maybe it’s just me over analyzing...
Isn’t that what they’re called? These guys were VPs at a bank. I just thought that’s the accepted term. Didn’t realize there’s a negative connotation to it
Have them apply to pwc. We’re hiring
Let it be.
My plan is to (try to be) be un-fireable. You may call it a dumb plan, but i don’t see another alternative.
Isn’t that everyone’s plan lmao
Industry or consulting?
Industry
>_< Too relatable... My mom is having trouble advancing in her (industry) org, despite exceeding results targets and being shortlisted for VP level roles, because her sponsor(s) have left.
Anyways, how should upper/middle managers with 15+ YOE look for new roles? My first thought was get connected with headhunters?
Realizing now that this is off topic (mom is not in financial services)
Age discrimination is real
