My firm’s holiday party is on a weekday after work. I can just wear what I’d normally wear to work for that day, right?

The firm I work for is not closing for the hurricane. Staff were told to work from home or take PTO if they could not come in to the office (and the building is now closed until Friday). Is this normal?!

For all you retail people...are you experiencing a very slow holiday season? I am a retail manager and I feel like this season has been freakishly slow. I thought we would at least match last year's number or be up a little bit but we are trending down. I talked to employees of other stores in the mall and they are saying the same thing. Is anyone else experiencing this in their market?

Do you drink or do anything wild at company holiday parties or events? I feel like as one of the only minority associates I have to be extra careful to stay professional. All my white coworkers can talk about is the open bar and how crazy everyone gets...true or false for your company?

Should I take this role?
Pros: 50k bump, company is full remote, no time tracking software, unlimited PTO, 10k in quarterly bonuses, vertical move in responsibility and title, will set me up for future roles in different companies with the title I am looking for (so strategic move)

Cons: Its a startup, the solution they offer is adjacent to my desired industry, its a very small team so I wouldn’t grow my network as much, tech stipend for new laptop (but they don’t provide a work one)

I wonder, why everyone is not applying for FAANG and they’re happy with startups or other companies? (Not talking about who are not able to clear the interviews )

Moving from T2 to McKinsey. How do vacation requests work? I have family and friends getting married this fall in weddings delayed because of covid, but I’ll just have started so wanted to get a sense of how realistic taking vacation this fall would be and how to approach taking it (e.g. mention to HR, staffing).
