A former head of DEI/HR for our institution felt that white males were not a member of a protected class. Therefore, she felt that white males could not be discriminated against based on sex/race. Federal OEO says that white males are a member of a protected class despite not being a member of a minority. Given that this director may have allowed their bias to impact Title IX investigations, are there any reporting requirements for this person's conduct now that they have left? Thoughts?

Latinx - help! We used this term in our diversity spotlight discussing Hispanic Heritage Month. One individual said that in English a group of Latinos would just be Latins to be gender neutral. I understand the word is controversial but is “Latins” grammatically correct? I assume we should just say Latin Americans, but trying to understand if Latins is also accurate.

Been for a company for over 2years. The executive team is very much a boy's club. There are a few women in management roles but zero ethnicity diversity there. I raised my concern to HR in feb. And they are just now deciding to do something about it. They want me (white female) to put together a diversity committee. Any suggestions on how to go about it? I've observed so many corporate versions become an advertising strategy (SM posts, diversity reports) without doing the actual work (increasing representation in senior leadership, salary analyses, having an effective reporting system for bias). Is this just how it is?
