A senior attorney asked me to "adjust" my time entries on a file – basically, inflate my billable hours. Do I report this or keep my head down?

OP, you’re likely not capturing your time appropriately. He’s giving you advice, the last thing on someone’s mind should be to report them. Why not just ask to clarify with him, what do you mean by “adjust”?

This!! I had a partner telling me that he had to bump up my time on a lot of work when he was editing pre bills because I was self-editing (his job) and also not capturing all my time effectively (he knew I worked longer than I was billing for)

I’ve worked at a law firm where we terminated attorneys for doing this - although they were grossly inflating to surpass a monthly bonus threshold. Harder now to get away with the implementation of ebilling review. Might ask another senior attorney or associate to see if they thought you were under billing.

Did Slalom ever have a covid vaccination policy in place, like a condition of employment? Thank you.

I am a junior associate actively looking to lateral. I feel bad knowing I’m going to completely blindside my Partners and practice group with the two week notice whenever I get an offer. Should I tell the group that I’m looking/interested in exploring other opportunities? The firm has been great, but I’m moving to another market in which they don’t have an office.

I have an interview coming up with Church & Dwight. When the recruiter emailed me with 3 interview times I thought he was asking me what time works best. Turns out he was telling me I was scheduled for 3 different interviews for 3 different teams in one day. Has anyone heard of a company doing that or gone through this for an interview? It seems odd to me

This could be an interesting opportunity. I’m a youth soccer coach and have become very popular in our area. So much so that a local magazine is going to publish an article on me next month. I’ve been working at a rather prestigious midsized firm in a big city for almost a year and a half now. I have been having a lot of trouble picking up work from senior partners. We are required to bill at least 150 hours per month to meet our requirement. My months are typically only 110-130 hours. It seems like the senior partners already have their “go to” associate for things. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can increase my workload? I reach out for work pretty much weekly.

My firm typically does insurance defense, but we take plaintiffs cases here and there. Is it typical that work done by associates on contingency cases isn’t counted toward their billable hour requirements unless and until we receive our fee on the case? This is my first experience with this, but it’s hard for me to reach my hours as is, without spending time on non billable cases like this with no assurance that I’ll see billable credit at the end.

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.
