not normal. I don’t believe any big firm does that.
Non compete should state that you won't pursue clients you've been engaged with via your previous employer, or x-months, for x-months.
A1 Yep, there's a non solicitation clause in there which seems totally reasonable that addresses this, the other part about not working for another Salesforce firm was the surprising part for me
That’s crazy! What firm did that? Asking you to not go to a competitor in Salesforce industry is literally shooting yourself in the foot
Lol I can neither confirm nor deny, good sir/ma'am!
Non-compete clauses are mostly unenforceable. You can always ask a lawyer to read it for you... to get an opinion.
Enforceability depends a lot on local laws.
Non competes aren’t enforceable in California

Ask them to remove that or to list 1-3 specific direct competitors. If they don’t, walk.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I thought that was unusual, relieved to hear I'm not crazy for not signing and asking to discuss with them!
In this market I would like to understand there fear & manipulation
Are you in the US? You need to check with a lawyer (it would be worth the $$$) to see if it would hold up in your state (it would not hold up in TX or other right-to-work states). The kind of people that would write something like that are trouble and may signal a toxic environment. Ask more questions and see if you can connect with other people who work there.
