Absolutely battered from pulling 10 hours shifts every other day, what’s with all the crunch time? Is it like this for everyone else?

it is if you let them take advantage of you, I don't think you should be giving your employer the entirety of your health and sanity just to please them. They would replace you without a second thought if needed

It is not like that for me. You work to make money and that’s it. It’s not your identity nor does it make you better or worse. It is purely transactional. You need them and they need you. Take a vacay and leave the work laptop behind, if they are powerless without you, start applying to other jobs with better work life balance and be ready to move.

Really? I've heard such negative things about Lockheed, glad at least someone there is having a good experience

I apologize for informing you that yes, I have 5 years of experience and I have had to work shifts of up to 16 hours.

That sounds miserable, why are you letting them do that to you

it was kind of like that up until I decided to work for a better employer

Constant crunch time is failure in planning and leadership. COuld be that too many contracts are being picked up or timelines are not being realistically set to allow people to work normal schedules. It's normal SOMETIMES but iff it's the norm you might want to get out of there

It sounds like you're feeling really run down and burned out. Unfortunately, crunch time is a reality for many workers in today's economy. While it's definitely not ideal, make sure to take breaks throughout the day, even if it's just for five minutes. Get up and walk around, or take a quick nap if you can.

Try to stay organized and focused. Break down your tasks into manageable chunks and set deadlines for yourself. Take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Eat healthy foods, get enough sleep, and practice self-care. Hopefully these tips will help you get through this tough time. Remember to stay positive and don't be too hard on yourself!

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if this is how it is for everyone else in their industry? Or are you asking if this is how it is for everyone else at your company? Because I have never been overworked in this industry, maybe I'm just lucky,

I had a job that was like this. Unrealistic deadlines and somehow it was on us if the work wasn't done on time. I quit, found a job that respects normal work hours and am so much happier for it.

Sounds like a serious management issue. This shouldn't be the norm, especially if people are starting to burn out. Have you approached management about this and told them it's unsustainable?

About to buy my first car, am I making a mistake? It's 2019 Corolla for 25K CAD (18K USD) all in. 45K kilometres (28K miles). I have 75K saved and earn 100K a year. It just feels too expensive, but it's hard to find something decent for less. Thoughts appreciated!

I broke through the wall in 2020 and feel like I blinked and it is 2022. I have been saving something close to 75% of my take home and dumping into ETFs. I feel like I want to branch out into real-estate but never lived anywhere more that 3 years. What would you do? I have cash to put a large down payment to avoid the high rates but am scared I have no roots and will move in another few years.
