Accenture has been laying off folks (high chargeability high performance, low chargeability low peformance, etc). There has been no official announcement and they are calling it performance layoffs when they are COVID layoffs.

They practically asked folks to take Memorial Day week off to ‘adjust the books’ just to lay off the same folks who could of used those extra days.

Thankful for my job (for now) but ashamed of this firm. More layoffs this week. This is not okay.

Thanks for sharing - praying for you all. Whether we want to admit it or not, the demand for consulting services has dropped pretty substantially for many industries. At the end of the day, we are all in the same boat regardless of the firm. People don’t believe me but EY is going to silently do this after our July 4th vacation and call it a “performance separation”

I personally know of 5 high performers who were let go although they did have some issues with charge ability.

Yea sorry to hear this.

This is what Deloitte originally tried to pull. Our Consulting CEO finally admitted what they were tho. Sorry you guys are also being affected.

Lol you have not heard about how Deloitte has been handling layoffs then?

You mean leadership openly telling us that layoffs were starting, then giving cash severance, a couple weeks of pay, and cashing out leave is worse than doing it, according to OP, secretly and forcing employees to burn PTO to adjust the books?

likefunny

They just addressed this on our call (just got off 3 min ago) - leadership continues to stress these are not Covid layoffs but I think given the attention to shareholders and internal folks, they'll continue to say its strictly performance until they call a spade a spade 🤷🏻‍♂️

Any data to support that we’ve been laying off high performers?

It's a business, not a charity. You have no right to a job. They are running a business and will do what's best for the business. What don't you understand about that?

This time is going to say a lot about the companies people are working for and the commitment they have to their employees be shareholders. If your in corporate it’s tough to find a transparent, honest company that actually practices their values to their own people.

A better firm would have targeted the obvious poor performers and people riding along and then asked for voluntary furlough, commentary pay cuts, C suite would have taken a public pay cut and PTO sharing would be encouraged to help those really in need of it.

Problem is, you need loyal employees who would sacrifice blood (different than drinking koolaid) for the company. Not sure I have really seen much actual loyalty here.

From what I have seen most are here only because they get something out of it. Find something better and they would be gone.

That’s the power of cohesive culture.

@A2 October is a normal start date option for us so not surprised

Accenture has only laid off low performers from prior cycle review. Not high performers.

like

A2, Are you certain they were high performers one year ago. That was the clincher.

like

Yes definitely, one of them was promoted last year and the others are industry experts, all senior managers or above.

Sounds like Capgemini and Accenture have been chatting with one another. Only, some of our BUs, like Invent, started back in April with the “PTO-followed-by layoff” move. Haven’t heard of any furloughs, just straight to laying off. Crazy times.

It happens every year learned it the hard way not only in Accenture but big4 as well COVID or no COVID

They don't pronounce it "ass enter" for nothing.

Deloitte is doing something similar. Not performance based, highly recommended to take Friday before Memorial Day off (on your own PTO) only to start mass layoffs the week after. But they say they care about people.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Good evening all,
With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. Any similar experience to share?

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid

Any idea how often those lists get updated?

I realized recently that I can turn my “super associate” persona at any time. I had it off during covid when my kids needed me and got a bad review. So now it’s back on. I’m responding to midnight emails (and daytime ones in under 20 minutes) and getting work done the same morning. I’m spending countless hours doing edits over edits. I actually don’t like super associate. Why do people live like this 24/7?!? 🤔

Also kind of bored because I am on one project for a long time and I want exposure to variety of projects. Is this a fair answer or would I be seen as arrogant?
