Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations, defined a developed country as "one that allows all its citizens to enjoy a free and healthy life in a safe environment. Will America be re-classified now?

Not at all. We’re not perfect here but we’re miles above a developing country in terms of freedom, health, and safety

Ignorant from C1. Of course poor /minorities have it harder here but they have it much worse in the developed world for the most part

We should be

Kiddo you ever been to Mumbai? Manila? What about Mogadishu? America isn’t getting ‘reclassified’ anytime soon.

D1 - I’m not certain what your chain of thought is here but if you’re comparing the impact of COVID19 on any of these cities, it might be helpful for you know that they are doing order of magnitudes better than any major US city.

This is so mind-numbingly disingenuous and silly that I don’t even know how to feel. The US is far from perfect, but it’s certainly not developing.

I swear, we should just start a swap program so that immigrant families like those of me and my closest friends who are thankful for the opportunity here can replace the native born ones that think they’re so hip for baseless bashing on America. I’ve still got plenty of extended family in China who would kill to live here if you want to trade places.

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

hello! I’m looking to get some insight to see if I’m being paid fairly for where I’m at in my career. I’ve worked at the same company for 2.5 years. This is my first job out of college. Started as an HR Admin, basically in a call center for all HR related inquiries and now am a Sr Admin assisting with escalations, interviewing, training new hires, supporting my team, scheduling, keeping track of stats- phone calls, tickets resolved, etc. I’m making $52k per year and work remote out of MA.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
