Following.. curious to see other firms as I feel like I’m significantly under paid
1. large regional firm in upper Midwest
2. S1
3. 64k, 3% to 6% annual bonus
4. 5% (with another raise coming in Jan)
5. Yes, last fall
Thanks for your input!
At PwC your TC will undoubtedly be over $100k for S1 and above. I am an S1 in what PwC defines as a T3 city (LCOL) and I know my peers in HCOL cities earn around $10k more. I’d assume all Big 4 firms are similar. The only smaller firm with similar comp is A&M, TC at Associate level there (Big 4 Senior) is around $130k.
I’m not totally sure but at S1 at big4 (non-PWC) it sounds like should be over 90k to 100k for MCOL and maybe 110 for HCOL?
$100k, chicago, PWC, SA2 in 2017
$196K, chicago, PWC, SM2 in 2021

Tier 2 city
What the fk. I was a M1 in NYC making 130k last year.
1. PwC
2. S2
3. 95k (mcol/lcol)
4. 25% +10% annual bonus (better than I hoped on the base/worse on the bonus)
5. Nope
What cohort are you in? S2 at 95k seems low.
1. Top 10 (Midwest)
2. Senior Manager
3. $205K plus bonus
4. N/A - first year
5. Switch from Big 4
I think it was about $75K.
Dang for advisory that seems low. What city? If this is Chicago, that’s insane. If its another city, a little less insane
Minneapolis
This was a few years ago and haven’t been with this firm in a few years, but figured I’d share for reference.
1. BDO
2. S2
3. $90k (Midwest) - if I use the inflation adjusted calculator, that’s roughly $98k in today’s dollars
4. 8% raise, 8% bonus
You’ll likely start at $85k for S1, but $90k is possible. Signing bonus was about $7k if I recall. That’s more negotiable than your salary after getting an offer.
