Job sucks, hours suck, pay isn't great #duces

Just say - thank you for everything but this job is not a good fit for you. No reason to burn bridges just to complain.

PwC 5 you still believe in Santa???

like

I am a manager who found out 2 months before my promotion that the bonus I had been promised for the last six years was cut 20%. Medical coverage sucks and now increased time to partner. There's also vast inefficiencies in my department that leadership doesn't understand. I am not alone in feeling this way. The model in place for our group has caused us to be woefully understaffed for years without any hope for developing new talent. Technology decisions have also been shortsighted with focus on cost over quality. As someone who is ingrained in the details of each client and knows how the work is performed, I feel I am at liberty to comment on these issues.

like

PwC5, managers hired in 2011 like myself who were promised a bonus of 25% and then 2 months before promotion had that cut by 20% got screwed, plain and simple. The notification was done via a Friday news dump in an obscure link on kcurve. It was a slimy move by that slime Tim Ryan. And in my case the reduction amounted to over $6k (New york metro tax). That's a tough pill to swallow. How do you think associates would feel if they were promised a $5k CPA bonus only to be told immediately before they passed their final exam that the bonus was being eliminated? More importantly, how would you feel? All so that the partners can line their pockets a little more. I am by no means trying to start an argument over some internet app, it's not worth arguing about.

like

How is Tim Ryan posting as both pwc1 and pwc5?

Been having this same internal conversation with myself, I’m planning on leaving ASAP if I can find the right job. Will probably give a somewhat scripted answer about finding a great job that was too hard to pass up but if someone really wants to know I’ll tell them I couldn’t stand the Work/hours/travel/comp but make sure to stress that I loved the people and learned a lot from them. That way it’s clear it’s not personal

like

If being honest but respectful about the reasons you’re leaving burns any bridges, those bridges are worth burning.

like

Is there a way to "complain" without burning bridges? Given all of PwC's horrible changes recently would I really be burning bridges if I gave honest, constructive and respectful feedback when I left?

like

What pwc2 said

Pwc 4, just curious what you think are pwcs horrible changes? Don't think I've noticed anything horrible

Pwc 4 it depends on what level you are. An associates opinion on what pwc leadership is doing may not be as constructive as one would think

PwC 4 you were notified two months before your promo but nine months before your payout anyway. The Firm took that feedback and that’s why they announced the new staff classes 1.5 years in advance. Plus, while I understand we’ll all believe it when we see it, no one has said there’s an extended time for partner. I think it’s a better weed out system for those who were ever partner material in the first place, but not an extension for you if you’re on track.

I would give them honest feedback on why I left

Anyone else have to deal with a rude legal assistant? Been working with a legal assistant for over a year, and to say she’s rude and difficult is an understatement. She’s quick to tell me if she can’t do an assigned task,my files are a disorganized mess, and she sends snarky email responses. I talked to the managing partner who agrees her behavior is problematic. He’s suggested the three of us schedule a meeting to discuss, but that feels too formal. I’d rather ask for a reassignment. Help!

Been for a company for over 2years. The executive team is very much a boy's club. There are a few women in management roles but zero ethnicity diversity there. I raised my concern to HR in feb. And they are just now deciding to do something about it. They want me (white female) to put together a diversity committee. Any suggestions on how to go about it? How to attract volunteers to the committee? I want to make sure I get the right people involved in this, to push for changes.

I have had a 60%+ increase in volume from this time last year, but we have not had a new hire in my role to assist with the influx. Additionally, others in my department are overworked and they're delegating down to me.

So not only do I gave more work than ever, I'm doing tasks outside my original role

My supervisor cant get headcount approvals. We are suffering as a department. I don't want to overrule him, but should I go to HR?I'm breaking down at this point and see evidence others are too

I have been working in an interim role as a portfolio manager. I was promised that the role would be mine. However, after doing the job for 2 months, I have been advised that we might not get the funding for the role and I might not get the raise and the title but my responsibilities will be the same.

Its a political minefield.

How should I back out elegantly that I need to be compensated fairly and competitively from this mess without burning any bridges

A guy who used to be on my team resigned a few weeks ago for another opportunity. I ran into his new boss socially and told them I was really impressed with how this guy was handling the drug bust and battling his heroine addiction during this career change. It shows real grit. That’s what wishing the best for others looks like.

For those who have gone from one big 4 to another…was it frowned upon by your superiors/looked at as a slap in the face, even if your intentions are to leave on good terms?

Someone I’ve started seeing uses they/them pronouns. I’m trying my best but still feel like I make mistakes. When I want to address them is it ok to say how are you or should I say how are they?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. For context I’ve been in company less than a year and there are people who have been in the company 25yrs. I’m thinking of cutting loose before it gets to my turn.

Help- my SIL showed me two dresses she rented for my shower, and I think they are super bridal/not very appropriate to wear as a guest or bridesmaid. I have asked others and they agree. I feel like my own outfit, a simple jumpsuit, pales in comparison to how over the top these dresses are. What can I say or do? I feel really down but also don’t want to start WW3 by saying something to her. I feel like I now need to rush to buy a new outfit.

In small companies (especially startups), where HR may not really exist or the HR person may be the main violator, how do you deal with inappropriate behavior. If a person has been there a long time and is "too important to fire" how do you handle them?

At a startup I left because of this, my boss had been there since day 1. He was a nightmare. The last straw was when he took out his anger at a home issue on me and made fun of me for being upset. HR told me they couldn't do anything about him.
