If you can’t afford to pay taxes here to help the city be a better place place then you should move. Simple.
Rising Star
Yeah, let's just have rich people! All problems solved.
What kind of short-sighted, brain dead take is this? Public transit is critical to economic growth and development, reducing congestion (and improving air quality), and overall making cities vibrant and safe places to live and visit. Even if you don’t use the el, you benefit from fewer cars on the road from those that do.
Transit literally carries our economy and makes our infrastructure systems more efficient. If you don’t want to pay for it, you’re welcome to move to a state where you’re chained to a high car payment and have to spend 45 minutes sitting alone in your car to and from work every morning. I’ve lived in such places (Texas) and you couldn’t triple my salary to make me go back. The el is one of the great things about our city and the new bill will help make much needed improvements.

The problem is, the bill was necessitated by the incompetence of the people who wrote it and signed it.
It's always nice when someone else can make better decisions about how to spend your income. Chances are you would only spend it on things that would benefit your family. How thoughtless. That's why we need socialists in charge. A little for the multitude of pawns in the game, a chunk for the politically connected, and the bill for the working class.
Find any socialist country where the leaders aren't plundering the workers. Fidel Castro died with an estimated $850 million net worth. Meanwhile, even Cuba's doctors work for pennies per hour. Where does the profits go? It goes to the ones who control the government for their own benefit.
Wise up kids. Take a look around. You're getting hoodwinked.
Cool
Yeah okay, because voting for the guys that do this worse is the right call.
Maybe try third party?

Come back to reality. No one said that.
I absolutely hate this argument. Are you trolling? "I don't have kids, so why do I pay taxes for education?" or "I'm not a senior, so why do I pay taxes for their health?" You don't live in a bubble. There are others paying taxes for things that YOU use that have no *direct* consequence to them. But here's the rub, these things do help you in some way if you stand back for once a look at the big picture. I don't know what CTA stands for in this situation (I automatically go to "Click through action", but I suspect I'm wrong." If it's a common American term, it's not that common in Canada. If it has anything to do with public transportation though, having a better system is incredibly in your favour as it makes your roads less congested with people in broken down cars that are struggling to get to work before their engine blows because their boss is too stingy to provide a living wage. Better public transportation makes commuting around a dense city easier for everyone involved in 9 to 5 travel. You're already starting to sound like a Republican with this me-me-me attitude, so enjoy their side with your arms wide open, and watch how quick they'll be to turn on you. Good luck.

Not reading this. Because I refused to be lectured by someone who can’t structure sentences or grammar.

Chicago is the worst. At least LA has sunshine and NY decent pizza. But Chicago, man...sorry to hear they're gouging everyone again!
Then WHO would you vote for? The Republicans who give our money to Billionaires and Argentina?! States Are Hurting because of Trump _Republicans giving it all to the Billionaires and not to states! I'm sticking with the Democrats who are fighting for Main Street and not Wallstreet!
Get in there and make your voice heard - call your representatives and register your opposition no need to switch party on that unless you've got some other reasons not mentioned. -Emmanuel Blimie, Thank A Democrat Forum.
If you want to leave the Party of the Inept for the Spineless Cult, OP, be my guest I suppose? Sadly no correct answer these days.
Raise a petition ...not voting is not a solution.

Better than letting anyone come into the country unchecked and unvetted, and furthermore, better than catching and releasing them when they commit crimes.
