After my story from yesterday went viral for all the wrong reasons, I'm drowning in angry emails and social media notifications. How do you distinguish between legitimate criticism that deserves a response and pure trolling that should be ignored?

First of all, if you've got an avalanche of hate mail it's best to just ignore it. Life's too short. But if some of them are signed and from actual people, not a bot swarm, consider what they're saying. If it seems like sincere feedback you can respond. But, responses in public may get dogpiled, so be aware that you just may prolong it all.

When a piece blows up like that, I scan for patterns. if multiple people raise the same point respectfully, I take it seriously. If it is personal attacks, name-calling, or all-caps rage, I mute and move on.

I usually look for specifics. If someone points to a detail I can verify or clarify, that’s worth my time. If it’s just name-calling, I skip it.

I feel like you can usually tell by the email address and the first line- if it sounds fake it’s probably fake hate mail

What are some good practices during the sales phase of a potential project to execute before the contract is signed? Seems obvious but would love some ideas on standard operating procedures that help with seamlessly handing over a signed contract to the account team. For example, speaking to the potential client explicitly about their role in staying on schedule, reviewing scope creep consequences, etc.
