Am I being spiteful if I feel a bit smug when the student who stood up and acted all show-boaty while totally dawging at me in class knocks on my door needing help with a missing assignment. She started a little bit arrogantly, asking me for the packet that goes with the lesson. She even returned the packet and seemed just a bit shamefaced. Come to find out, she was in detention from the write-up I did after her little defiant act in my class. Uuumph!

Haha I've definitely had those moments. But I try to remember that they're kids and kids aren't as emotionally intelligent as we wish they were. Karma bit her and it's fun to watch someone get taught a little life lesson, but haven't we all had to eat crow at some point in our lives? Hopefully this student will behave a bit better going forward.

I totally get where you're coming from, its hard to navigate tough student relationships, especially the ones who clearly aren't getting good direction. I think sometimes all we can do is vent in private then put on a good face the next day. Hopefully you can find a way to reach this girl and help her improve her attitude.

Nope you are not because I have been there. I know exactly where you are coming from and it is hard not to feel a bit smug. I won't lie, I somtimes have a little chuckle to myself.

Well we just have to love them anywhere. We still guide and love our students even when they are disrespectful. It is our chance to show them forgiveness and humility.

High school special class (self-contained) teachers: What do you use for planning? I’ve always been an inclusive teacher, so I followed the plan book of my co-teacher. I can’t even decide if I should go digital or paper-based let alone make a final decision! I’ll be teaching 9-11th grade math and 11th grade science. The 11th grade classes I can very much do whatever I (or the student) want/need…there isn’t a set curriculum

Hey fellow Disney Lovers,

I generally have a few lessons in which I can use Pixar shorts to teach students how to identify and discuss literary signposts, how to identify and explain the development of theme, character traits, and other narrative elements. What are some of your favorite shorts? I am trying to incorporate activities where my students get to choose their own clips for independent practice with these skills and need a variety to draw from.

What is your ABSOLUTE FAVORITE lesson?

I’m looking at lessons with a pro. They offer packs of 30 min (6-pack) and 60 min (3-pack) sessions. Is there a benefit to one over the other? Is 30 too short or 60 too long?

I’ve never taken lessons before, just played my whole life. I’m a mid 80s golfer trying to get more consistent and break into the high 70s.

SOS I’m a first year teacher. I’m at a VERY challenging school district & a different culture than I’ve ever been around before. I cant get through a full day’s lesson! I spend more time disciplining!

Any suggestions on appropriate Spanish movies to show in my Spanish 4 class with video/lesson plan? We have two weeks left with seniors and I got through my curriculum

Hello! I work in change management and am assigned to an IT POM transformation. I’m still in my fact finding/change readiness analysis phase, but struggling with the senior leadership team. Does anyone have any lesson learned or best practices in eliciting feed back from senior leaders? think SVP and above? I thought about focus groups, but their time is limited. Also, survey response rate tends to be low for these guys. Any ideas???

Did anyone else adopt the new Florida Wonders curriculum? We just adopted it this school year, and I teach 4th grade. My team and I have not found a good flow, schedule, or whatever you want to call it. We feel like it teaches too many skills in one lesson, and we are not able to truly teach anything “deep” enough for students to master. Does anyone have any insight? What do you do? Do you like the curriculum? Why or why not? Would you be willing to share what you do weekly/daily? Thanks!

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Recent new hire here.. is there a way to see your specific level within your rank (e.g. senior 1 vs. senior 2)? Or is this something to ask HR? There wasn’t any indication during the hiring process unless it could be inferred by salary. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I have been in my current role as an EA at a financial institution for about a year and a half now. I would love to find a 100% remote role as a mid level EA at a company with an awesome work culture. I think I’m ready to be challenged again, I find myself bored in my current role… I’m open to any industry but would love to get into tech. If anyone knows of any openings I would really appreciate it! I’m located on the East coast currently. TIA
