She brought over her pt to the Dr. Side(past the front)for an exam and X-rays, but they weren’t needed. The other asst. took them/exam done on WRONG pt. My manager asked me who was to blame. I said all of us. Back,front,hyg, and management. The whole office. She said she is not to blame. I said I think she is. She then said we are done talking, we are done to me and turned around.

How not to take as personal if your manager blast in group of people even for small mistake or not even considerable as mistake.
How do you keep yourself don’t get effected and without any guilty?

Let’s talk suits. Do you have any thoughts on a junior associate wearing an expensive suit or a suit that departs from the norm (eg subtle pinstripe navy suit, or a suit with larger lapels/peaked lapels?). I’m thinking about upgrading my suit, but I don’t want to piss anyone off with a suit screaming the message “I’ve made it” when I’m just a junior associate. Perhaps it’s just all in my head and no one actually cares.

I lashed out emotionally at work recently as of result of a lot pent up frustration. In short I accused those around me of personally attacking me. And I am worried I will loose my job as of result.

Gives unrealistic deadlines, has no time for discussion and next day he is up with his nagging behaviour

Doesnt even know how to talk in a certain professional manner, fed up with his nagging behaviour.

And yeah forgets everything! Need to remind him each and everytime about the tasks and boom, then he comes up with his negative demotivating statements!

What do you do when when someone at the top of your firm says something bigoted and you don’t call them out immediately?

I started a new job as an “office manager” at the end of January. The duties seem to align more with those of an EA, and I’m ok with that. Except my boss is a control freak. He scolds me over every little thing, how I load the dishwasher, maybe I didn’t push my chair in. Last week he told me I needed to work on my appearance. I was shocked. I bought all new clothes from Ann Taylor that are perfectly acceptable for business casual. He hates me. Move on ASAP or try to stick it out ?

I met two of my three aides for the first time today and they have been nothing but miserable the entire day. How could I promote a more positive environment without directly calling them out?

My Dept has been tapped to help another dept promote a DEI study. The client dept has hired a consultant in this area. The challenges I see with this consultant's work style:

-dominating conversations
-micromanaging things outside her area
-steering things toward her own promotion over our company's agenda
-people in my dept (mostly white) are visibly uncomfortable and reluctant to interrupt or contradict her (black woman)

Discrimination question. I’ve been passed for several job opportunities in the last 4 years. Every single time the job is given to a male who’s older than me, despite my qualifications being more in line with the job. Is it worth it to make a discrimination claim? I already know HR won’t help me but should I contact an attorney?

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?
