Am I the only one who thinks customers have gotten way ruder lately? Like the entitlement is on steroids...snapping fingers, interrupting, acting like every meal is a high-stakes negotiation. I’ve been in this industry over a decade and I swear it wasn’t always like this. What are you seeing where you work? Is this just my city or a nationwide problem?

It’s everywhere. People spent two years yelling at DoorDash and now they think that’s how you talk to actual humans. Honestly, we need bouncers, not servers.

I'm in a suburb of Dallas and it honestly hasn't been bad over here. I think it's due to the location for sure. Being a smaller southern city, most people are polite and tip well. It's just the culture down here. I wonder what it's like in the bigger cities of Texas, but happy to say people are still cordial over here.

And they don't tip as well either if they tip at all

The only change I've been noticing is lower tips. Overall behavior and attitude hasn't changed much. Every day is a mixed bag. Some customers are incredibly kind and polite, others are the exact opposite.

You definitely are not alone. I have been saying that since Covid it seems like people have really lost their minds. I mean this week alone I have been screamed at four times for things that were way beyond my circle of control.

This is my 32nd summer in this business and I’m now slinging dranks & crabs… I’m in southern Delaware where it gets hot & humid as all get out! Going in the kitchen is the gates of hell… freezing in the dining rooms then the devil sits his ass crackright on me on the patio!!! Families are tired of each other and tired of everybody… they define hangry…. But as soon as I get something in their tummies Ali’s good. Just the difference in tipping like night and day from in season to off season right about now Donna summer she works hard for the money rings true every condom on this clock

Hi everyone, I am looking for A job anyone you know need a staff and can hire from oversease? thank you.

We’ve gotten ruder as a country over the past 10 or so years. Pick your reason why. Folks think it’s fine to be openly rude now when before such behavior wouldn’t have been looked upon poorly.

Got an offer from PwC, a level down from where I am at, citing “adjustment to culture”. Apparently they liked me, so how do I negotiate up?

Just received a formal offer from Deloitte Consulting as a SC in Strategy & Analytics. Base is $125K, no sign-on bonus. This isn’t much of an increase from what I’m making now. Haven’t reached out to negotiate yet and the recruiter has been pretty quick on the phone so far. I’m coming from a smaller firm, 8 YOE, mainly data analytics and cloud. Any insight or tips how to navigate for increased base?

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
