I got the flexispot electric standing desk from Amazon and it was cheaper than the ikea version. Mine works fine and I’m happy with it.
Enthusiast
I’ve also recommended it to 3 coworkers who like it as well. It really helps having someone help with assembly since the desk portion is pretty heavy.
I got a hospital tray table for my small apartment. It’s AMAZING, easy to move , easy to put together and can be used to work anywhere
Where did you get it? Is the height adjustable?
Got a $500 desk from Autonomous that I really like.
+1 on autonomous. Enjoying it. Good value for money.
Check out a treadmill desk. Way better for you than simply standing all day.
IKEA makes a mechanical and an electronic standing desk. I’d say don’t spend money on a desk but spend on a chair. All the desk has to do is go up and down...besides it’s hard to know how much you’ll actually use a standing desk feature until you’ve used one.
Sam’s Club has a nice Serta chair for $99. It is very comfortable. Got my standing desk at Flexispot.com. Very nice and about 1/2 the price of the varidesk.
Varidesk or flexispot
I really enjoy my varidesk because it’s not too expensive and it’s not a big bulky large heavy desk. It’s just something on top of my table I bought from ikea which I use as a desk. When I want to stand, I raise it. When I want to sit, I lower it. Fits my needs.
+1 for autonomous desk. Cant beat $330 price (with r-fd299c as promo code) and love the white oak top.
My Jarvis bamboo table top cracked from my ATX tower sitting on I think (just the very top layer that’s a glued on). Going to see what their customer service is like. My GF went with the autonomous desk and tbh, I think the difference is pretty minimal. Wouldn’t say say all of Autonomous’ stuff is high quality, but the desk seems to do fine for the price. All standing desks are going to be pretty heavy because of the legs, but dual motors is generally a good idea. If you have the funds, I would suggest a completely wooden tabletop.
I’ve had the IKEA stand desk since ~2014. At the time, it was one of the few options at that price point. They have (historically at least) not been the most reliable mechanically. After a while, it’ll go down smoothly but stutter on the way up and only go an inch at a time. This is pretty pervasive from what I’ve read online. Thankfully, it’s covered under warranty to replace but it does cost you a call to ikea corporate. I’ve had to replace twice.
TL DR there are likely better quality options, like those mentioned by others above, than IKEA at IKEA’s price point
The Bekant that I have is electrical. You have to plug it in.
Don’t overlook the importance of good shoes with cushioning and support too, especially if you’ll be standing more.
I have a varidesk in my office, I love it.
I have a veridesk in my office at work. I should have brought it home with me with work from home.
Uplift desk. Amazing.
I got the Tresani standing desk for my son and liked it so much I bought one for myself. Costco, abt $300. It’s electric height adjust and lifts my big monitors or my son’s gaming computer system. Easy to assemble, easy to move. He plans to take it when he returns to college.
