Deloitte or start-up/product company for a product role?

Hi all. How does one approach about a role change. I found out I got promoted to a senior support manager but the duties are the same as I do now and don’t consist of leadership responsibilities ( I work for a startup and was expecting this). How does one go about asking for role change in a different function of the company?

Just started a new role in finance and I’m the only woman on the team. It’s been 3 weeks and the guys have been pretty unwelcoming and kind of rude. The first day everyone was welcoming but it went downhill since. One of them keeps trying to scare me that the work will get hard etc and there’s always awkward silence and sometimes unnecessary rude remarks. I just started and don’t feel right what should I do.

Would it be a faux pas to ask a recruiter to connect me with a recruiter for another area? Applied for a tax role and was turned down in favor of an internal candidate, but told to reach out if I found something I was interested in. I'm very interested in some data science roles, but wondering if the request would make me look undesirable. Ideally, I do want to pivot to data science.

I have a call with the technical recruiter from Facebook for a data engineering position (30min), do they ask TECHNICAL questions as well during this round (it’s the first call of the interview process)?

How long do you prep for interviews? I’ve found that when I studied too long, I end up sounding like a robot and trying recall everything from memory, which sucks. I’ve had the best interviews when I felt more relaxed and did minimal studying

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. The recent most billable hours post, inspired me. What is your longest billable day? Mine was 56 hours straight with no break—and the partner was more than a jerk when I was saying no more at the 30 hour point. That was two 24 hour billable days back to back on my time sheet and on the bill, a 360 hour month, and 650 aggregated for two months. And it is one reason (of so many reasons) why this job can suck so much! At least I got a good bonus...

Midsize private firm: Criminal, PI, and Family Law Depts. No body talks about their pay rates but rumor mill pins the highest paid dept is PI, with 2nd Criminal and coming in last Family Law. The Attorneys profit share salaries while paralegals and support staff are paid hourly. There are talks of year end bonuses for each dept but how and what those bonuses are based on Nobody knows for sure. It’s all so mysterious and subject to favoritism. Is this pay setup the norm where you live and work?
