Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. I wish the worst part about it was the amount of work, rather than the completely toxic culture, lack of appreciation, arbitrary and back/breaking deadlines, lack of mentorship/feedback/training, and the fact that the associates act like they don’t even know each other. MBB AP about to exit to non-FAANG tech. Would you expect a signing bonus and/or pre-determined severance pay if things don't work out with the new company? She just got her EAD and is looking for jobs, open to switch profiles as well. Do you think she would fit in for any role here in Seattle, WA? We decided to do a photo session before the wedding for the two of us and family. The photographer and the location were amazing but the makeup was terrible, and because I was low on time, I couldn't fix it before the photos. The makeup artist make me look yellow! Do most firms start reporting years in September or January? Prior firm did an August year for counting hours and then another did January (both Amlaw 200). Looking at an Amlaw 100 to lateral in the fall (so trying to anticipate how much of the year I’ll have). I’ll ask what bonus/reporting year but just curious if most follow the same.

I wasn’t sure which bowl to solicit advice from so hoping to catch a bite here. I’m currently in ID. Of course, I want OUT! My interests are L&E and corporate. My options are 1) wait it out where I am in hopes to switch to L&E or 2) in house oil and gas industry transactional work. What would you do and why? I figured this bowl being specific to Texas would understand importance of oil and gas industry.

I’m a non-TX immigration attorney mentoring a UT student who went to my undergrad. He’s done incredibly well in OCI and pre-OCI. Thus far, he’s landed interviews with (all in Houston): Baker Botts, Sidley Austin, Kirkland, Winston Strawn, Reed Smith, Norton Rose, and Locke Lord. Also Perkins Coie in Dallas. He’s leaning transactional, but also open to litigation. Any insights/advice on these firms in the TX market? Any to avoid?
