My husband and I have saved up about $80K and it’s just sitting in our bank account. We thought we were going to buy a townhome but with the crazy inflated prices we decided not to since we like where we live currently (location could not be better and rent is crazy cheap at only $700 a month). How should we invest our money in the meantime while we save up for a house?

Looking for ways other than litigation to penalize fraudsters for cancelling transactions and stealing “pending” monies. Can this information be given to the credit bureau in order to negatively affect their credit? Or, anything else that can be done to hammer down on these types of issues, bad debt as well.

Ladies, are gifts important to you?

Is CMA worth getting after getting the CPA? Or is it better to get the CFA. Also don’t have much finance background so I don’t know if I can pass the CFA will require a lot of hard work. Interesting in hearing people’s thoughts.

I have no plans in leaving PA anytime soon but I figure maybe I should look into another certification that holds value and makes me more marketable compared to my peers. Appreciate any thoughts and advice.

Is it bad to put in two weeks notice next week knowing my last day will be first week of jan and one of the two weeks is within the firm’s holiday break?

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
