I had interviewed with Deloitte UK consulting in June/July and was called by the HR team by the end of July that the interviews were positive and they're sending for approval for an offer to be rolled out. I was called back later in September and told that the role is on hold due to a hiring freeze. Is anyone else in this situation and have you'll heard back from the HR team post that

Why not aim for a firm that's more aggressive hiring laterals? Skadden barely hires laterals and is likely overwhelmed with candidates and any given moment

Why would you go there? You should be looking at Kirkland, Latham and Simpson for M&A. A firm without real PE work is going to keep losing ground.
Maybe from the perspective of firmwide top line, but I’m not convinced that’s something that should sway the decision of an associate. Also, I prefer non PE M&A anyway (though am not opposed to doing PE work as well). 🤷🏻♂️
Kirkland is a pain in the ass and I would never go there.
Do you have any specific thoughts about Latham and Simpson that would be helpful to share, however?
Thank you for taking the time to comment!
They act really impressed that they're in "the tallest building in downtown Palo Alto". Also when I was there one of the floor to ceiling windows on the 12th floor was broken and boarded over which was pretty spooky
A1 not sure what no Gunderson means? Latham, DPW, Freshfields, Goodwin, and others have all moved there within the last 2 years, away from the Menlo/PA area. Not many firms choosing to move to Palo Alto. Generally the younger crowd prefers to be a bit higher up the peninsula (yes, partially for proximity to the city). No doubt Palo Alto is a bougier town.

Can confirm, great views. Also lots of great restaurants and shops in immediate area.
