Any other consulting firms sent memos to their employees about new H1B guidelines? Essentially no more alt travel for H1B holders and at least one day a week in the home office?!? :-0

To be clear it sucks, but the no-alt interpretation is a bit overblown. I’m and PL and happy to give my H1bers a Monday in office so they can alt the next weekend. That means 50% alt weekends is still possible. The secondment thing seems harder to solve, as I doubt secondee employers want the hassle. And no WFH Friday also sucks

Based on posts on FB, other firms have flat out said “no onsite work.” From what I’ve seen (limited convenience sample), we’re taking a more liberal approach. Happy to be corrected if that’s not the general interpretation. Sucks because it hurts our people and our firm

like

That’s great you’d do it but I assume many PLs won’t be able to allow that if important client stuff happens on Mondays !

like

Wow the PL who responded seems like the most reasonable PL I’ve ever met. Or i just work for the wrong people

like

Why? What the heck! Nothing like trying to create an unwelcoming environment

Don’t know the details but more government scrutiny for visa processing if you work “off site” so the guideline is to mitigate that apparently

Ok that’s interesting... still sucks though.

No I heard the opposite. That other firms haven’t sent any guidelines at all and we are taking the stringent approach

EY has been pushing on this for a while now, guess other firms are just playing catch up.

Has EY actually implemented it??

Yes EY made it clear and H1bers need to file amendments and all the STEMers are strictly prohibited from working on client sites going forward.

Hi folks,
Quite new to this. I’ll be moving to Dubai in a month and I got to know that my education documents need to be attested before the company can apply for visa. Do I need to have MOFA Attestation in addition to the UAE Embassy Attestation from home country or will that be managed by the company in UAE itself?

Hello friends on H1B.
Had filed an amendment for current client. got RFE in sept and now got denial.
What does that mean? Do I have to leave the country? or can I still work on previous LCA?

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

I have been getting calls from someone who introduces herself as an employee in my company from US office. She tells me she is visiting India for a meeting and her outlook is not working here, so she asks me to share contact numbers of some of senior partners in other teams. I am confused on what to do? I have been avoiding her calls since past few days. She told me she got my number by mistake as she asked for a contact from transport team in the same name.

I believe in the philosophy of learning from other's experiences, success stories, mistakes and regrets while keeping in mind that similar set of life events may unfold into totally different ways/outcomes for others as there are always too many variables in the equation called LIFE. People may arrive at different destinations at different times while being on the almost similar path.

I have a good belief to believe I, and others of my kind are being systemically discriminated against at work. There was a particular incident recently that affected me. I am the in house employment counsel for the company - and now feel like I am in a weird position. Can I file an EEO complaint against my client, or do they just get to do whatever they want to me? Obviously outside counsel would need to be hired, and a wall put up. Looking for info thanks.

Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?
