To be clear it sucks, but the no-alt interpretation is a bit overblown. I’m and PL and happy to give my H1bers a Monday in office so they can alt the next weekend. That means 50% alt weekends is still possible. The secondment thing seems harder to solve, as I doubt secondee employers want the hassle. And no WFH Friday also sucks
Based on posts on FB, other firms have flat out said “no onsite work.” From what I’ve seen (limited convenience sample), we’re taking a more liberal approach. Happy to be corrected if that’s not the general interpretation. Sucks because it hurts our people and our firm
That’s great you’d do it but I assume many PLs won’t be able to allow that if important client stuff happens on Mondays !
Wow the PL who responded seems like the most reasonable PL I’ve ever met. Or i just work for the wrong people
Why? What the heck! Nothing like trying to create an unwelcoming environment
Don’t know the details but more government scrutiny for visa processing if you work “off site” so the guideline is to mitigate that apparently
Ok that’s interesting... still sucks though.
No I heard the opposite. That other firms haven’t sent any guidelines at all and we are taking the stringent approach
EY has been pushing on this for a while now, guess other firms are just playing catch up.
Has EY actually implemented it??
Yes EY made it clear and H1bers need to file amendments and all the STEMers are strictly prohibited from working on client sites going forward.
