We do a lot of Desmos activities to switch things up. The students also LOVE Blooket for review, and sometimes we’ll run a quick random Blooket just for fun.
I used to read a couple Darwin awards to start class. There are enough now you would never have to repeat in two years.

Yes! Our kids enjoy when one of our science teachers starts each class with “daily randoms”. She started the year off choosing them, then students started emailing her their fun findings. Last year’s funniest was the guy who caught an alligator in his trash can. https://youtu.be/GAPKVH8AK8U
Try GIMKIT- instructional math games
I would try educational/ fun video clips, maybe something appropriate yet relevant to their daily life.
You can do random facts about different states or world countries. Ex: France had a king one time for only 20 min.
