Any shy leads/managers on here? I am a shy/anxious introvert who always has to practice in order to be seen as an extrovert. I’ve strayed away from lead or manager opportunities in the past because it makes me uncomfortable but I want to know how others in my shoes actually do it!

I used to be shy, but as I grew older gained more confidence and now I run large programs, leading a meeting or professional relationships are not an issue anymore but still suck at small talk.

like

Same. I don't think small talk will ever be easy for an introvert.

This question definitely spoke to me. I feel like you really do not have to be extrovert to be a manager or leader. You just have to be comfortable in your own skin and be confident about what you bring to the table. Trust me, I’ve been in your exact same position thinking the exact same thing, but as you get more experience/confidence in your chosen field, you will flourish. Don’t stray away from lead or manager opportunities because you will realize it is not about being an extrovert. Cheers and good luck!

I think you just gotta get the reps

Great advice above. FWIW when asking clients (and internal leaders) for feedback, I consistently get praise for speaking substance and brutal assessment, vs fluff. Do good work (including positioning yourself as a competent expert to client) and the rest will follow.

Embrace the uncertainty! I took on these challenges in a controlled environment where i had the experience and knowledge to feel safe, because i knew what i was talking about. That way I started to build more confidence and now I present in front of management boards (always still with a bit of a weak stomach though 😅)

Yes definitely and zoom calls back to back can feel especially more draining for the introvert brain.

1. Should we go for house of that budget? We can afford, but asking based on market.
2. Should we down 15% or just 5% ? Or go for 20% ?

I am looking for a new job at the end of a long career. I have excellent experience in IP and Supply Chain Management. I've been fortunate to be in a high-paying position in the Los Angeles area and I rarely see comparable positions posted. The comparable positions at my company are filled by one of the big executive search firms. Any recommendations for finding the rare executive-level legal positions or for landing on the radar of the big executive search firms would be much appreciated!
