What is the biggest jump you've seen someone make straight after leaving big 4? I know a Senior 1 who jumped into a Sr. Tech Manager role at a large private firm. Made director after 2.5 years shortly
Thinking about leaving B4. Will be a senior 1 in tax come October. Been doing some thinking and can’t decide if being in tax long term is for me. Want to transition into finance role. Thinking about leaving to be a finance associate somewhere and wanted to get input as the career paths for these moves. Ultimately want to be a CFO I think. I know pay is variable but in northeast is it substantial? Worth foregoing the chance of being partner? Fear is not making it and then being pigeon holed.
Question about referrals. If someone you don’t personally know reaches out from your network asking for a referral (alum from same school or someone who worked at the same company you did), do you do it, or no?
Does anyone know the common exit ops from The Valuation group at Big 4? IB? FP&A? Corporate development? I’m in audit and looking to make the transition over to the valuation team.
Who here thinks consulting slides are a lot of bs? I come from a technical role in industry, and it certainly feels that way.
Need honest opinion from 🐠. Background: previously a big four consultant in tech consulting. Didn’t like the tech implementation work at all and needed to pivot. After obtaining my masters in data science, I landed a good role that actually uses what I’ve learned. However, this role also made me realize that data science (at least in this organization) has a very low ceiling, and is also highly on the technical side. I see myself eventually wanting to move to leadership/management positions.
Considering applying to a role at ZS Associates. Can someone enlighten me about the firm culture compared to Big 4? This would be for financial services vertical.
I was impacted by Deloitte's COVID layoffs. I was a first year so I only have 10 months of experience with Deloitte in audit, I interned with them too. I have a MACC degree 1.What are some good exit opportunities that I can work with given my experience? 2. Should I apply to positions with Deloitte if they just laid me off?
We recently had several people promoted to manager with less than 3 years consulting / overall work experience - I personally feel this is too little for a Manager role, what are your thoughts?
Have an upcoming interview with FAANG PMM. Anyone have a crash course they’d recommend? Applied for the position but have little knowledge on product marketing.
Hi ladies! I am seeking advice as I am torn between between prepping and applying to MBA or FAANG jobs. I currently am at 4.5 YOE, 150K base, engineering manager. My network has advised that an MBA can help pivot careers as I’m exploring content strategy (Netflix). One of my goals is to also work in London. I will add that there is an expectation in my family for higher education and candidly, my longer term goal is a CXO position. Thank you!
Take the Easy associate job that pays more with great brand name, great pay, great benefits, seemingly good manager, but the role isn’t what you want and isn’t as good of a stepping stone OR the difficult manager role that has great role, high impact, helps you learn, good skill development, average benefits, good pay (but not crazy outstanding), solid brand name BUT you don’t know the team/manager well & pay/benefits isn’t as high as the first
Client smashes door open into me so hard I fall over, he looks at me sprawled out on the ground and says, "oh good, I was looking for you. Who do I talk to about your team working over the holiday?"
