Denver housing market is great demand as there are more demand and less supply. Houses are going 70/80K above the quoted price. Specially the area you mentioned Parker, Castle Pines and few other places. Honestly place is great, plenty of activities whether it’s winter or summer.
Thanks - glad to hear a lot to do down there. Are those southern burbs still running into the over-ask bidding wars that Denver proper is facing?
Not a huge fan of south / east suburbs. Castle pines is def better than Parker though.
Highly recommend Lafayette, Louisville, Erie, Golden or even Arvada. Reason being is the distance to Denver (closer than Parker), offer more in activities and things to do. Closer to the mountains as well!
No idea about schools. Not a fan of suburbia at all but if I had to move to one it would be those.
My job was in Boulder and Hubs in Denver. We wanted to split the difference in the commute and we landed on Lafayette because it has a little downtown (unlike Broomfield) but was more affordable than Louisville. Commuting from Denver into Boulder is a nightmare and Boulder was too expensive for us when we were looking.
I live in Thornton. It's growing a lot and relatively more affordable. Commute to Denver isn't bad either and the light rail is finally up and running.
I vote Louisville. Further commute for your wife but way more of a communal feel and business will continue to bridge the space between there and Boulder.
I live downtown and am anti-suburb but that’s the one I’d move too.
OP said the times above so maybe at 5am it’s minimal traffic and 6pm it’s calmed down a bit. But I literally don’t drive M-Th because I live and work in the city.
How important is it to you to be near the city? That’s easily an hour or more to downtown, depending on how far east your go, in case that matters.
At this point, access to the city doesn’t appear to be an issue. Won’t need to go downtown with K, or if I were to move jobs I’d likely end up in the DTC area. Wife works (and will continue to work) in the Anschutz complex, so seems like an easy-ish commute for her (she leaves 5am, return likely post 6pm).
