McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

If you applied to cloud roles with just an ERP/data analytics background, you probably won’t get any bites. You have to make sure you adjust the resume to make it well know you’ve worked with data analytics, and infrastructure related activities. They don’t care about ERP experience because unless you were the guy literally installing the ERP box on the server, the rest of that knowledge doesn’t matter in cloud.
Do you have any suggestions on PgM roles?
There are teams working on internal SAP projects. Sometimes there are PgM roles in those teams, and for analytics. It’s a pretty specific combination you are looking for, so might need some luck for the right role to open. Here’s a SAP related role for reference

Thanks for the response.
Putting ERP aside, What about program management roles?
Is there something specific that would help stand out? I am wondering how so many years of experience delivering valuable work is not relevant?
The interview was for cloud solution and they’re looking for more technical resources, that was the feedback. Also, i have ERP knowledge but they were looking for more cloud expertise.
With this feedback in mind, i am try to understand how to leverage my PM experience future opportunities.
So I would like to prepare for it.
What do you think could have gone better from your previous experience?
I personally am writing one because my manager and I discussed it based on my trajectory.
But your point above is exactly why people stress out and Perf becomes hellacious. Optional means optional, if it aligns with your work. Scaring people into completing Perf means it’s a never ending cycle.
